Discussion
These preliminary results show that it is indeed possible to define
acceptance criteria for the amount of granularity of CGH images. The classifier
accepts smooth hybridization results and rejects granular CGH images. This
method requires a properly focused microscope. If the microscope is defocused,
the amount of power in the high frequency range will drop sharply, since
the microscope will act as a low-pass filter (the image gets blurred).
As a result a badly granular hybridization may look like a smooth good
hybridization.
