Beyond seismic interferometry

What is beyond seismic interferometry?

Seismic interferometry is the methodology by which new seismic responses are created by crosscorrelating seismic observations at different receiver locations. No information about the medium is needed, but a receiver is required at the position where one wants to create the virtual source. The papers on this webpage address the question how to obtain the response to a virtual source inside an inhomogeneous 3D Earth from reflection data acquired at the surface, hence, without needing a receiver at the position of the virtual source. One of the main applications is so-called Marchenko imaging, which fully accounts for internal multiples. Interested?
