Transition radiation in one-dimensional elastic systems

Summary. The uniform motion of a mass subjected to a constant vertical force along a semi-infinite string on the Winkler foundation is considered. The string is clamped at . It is shown that when the mass moves near the clamp, the transition radiation of elastic waves arises in the string. The radiation reaction (horizontal projection of the string reaction) acting on the mass is found.  The energy variation law for transition radiation in one-dimensional elastic systems is analyzed.
