Since Sep. 2016, I am an assistant professor at TU Delft. Before this, I was a HC Ørsted postdoc fellow at the Section of Solid Mechanics, TU Denmark. I obtained my PhD in Computer Science in 2015 from TU Munich, and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering in 2012 from Beihang University.


I develop computational design and fabrication methods to facilitate the design for the best performance, exploiting the unprecedented design freedom offered by additive manufacturing (3D printing). Exemplary topics include:

 

(1) Design of medical devices with tailor-made physical properties,

(2) Design of soft-bodied robots for stable physical interaction,

(3) Design of lightweight and robust structures for 3D printing.

 

Underlying such diverse design problems is computer simulation and optimization (e.g., topology optimization) of shapes, structures, and (meta-)materials. It builds upon and extends the state-of-the-art in computer graphics, computer-aided design, and computational mechanics, and in particular regarding geometry and physics.


I work with talented PhD students and postdocs: Rob Scharff, Tim Kuipers, Eric Garner, Dr. Weiming Wang.

2018-07-27 I visited Prof. Ligang Liu at USTC and gave a talk in the USTC summer school of Advances in Computer Graphics.

2018-03-27 Our paper on adaptive structures is conditionally accepted to Solid and Physical Modeling 2018.
