flow behind a cylinder. This is a simulation of Von Karmann vortices
behind a cylinder. Some background information can be found

Dutch). It appears that the new
built in Rotterdam also
suffers from instabilities due to Von Karmann vortices originated
by wind. On November 7, 1940, the first
Tacoma Narrows suspension bridge
collapsed due to wind-induced vibrations.
