The Master project has been finished in January 2016
by the completion of the
Masters Thesis

Summary of the master project:
To be able to develop new products that need certain properties now a
lot
of prototypes have to be produced based on experience. This process
costs a
lot of time. As the properties of these steels mostly depend on their
micro-structure, the process of developing new steels can get more
sophisticated when the micro-structure can be better predicted.
Therefore a
model has been developed by Tata Steel which describes all kinds of
metallurgical mechanisms occurring at the production of steel. One
important mechanism is currently missing in the model, that is the grain
growth due to curvature. The goal of this master thesis is to select the
best method available to model the grain growth by curvature and include
this in the already existing 3D-Model.
