Lab#

The lab is located on the ground floor and basement of 3mE, Tower C. You can access the lab with your campuscard from week 2, after submitting your details (see Group formation).

The lab is open Monday - Thursday, 09:00-17:00 and Friday, 13:00-17:00. Please do not work with the setups outside of these hours, even if your campuscard gives you entry to the lab.

House rules#

We ask you to observe these general lab rules:

  • If there are multiple copies of the same setup, you’ll be assigned to a specific one. Please stick to this particular setup - not only out of fairness to the other groups, but also because different copies of the same setup may show slightly different dynamic behavior, or need different calibrations.

  • No eating or drinking (anything else than water form a closed container) in the lab. If you take a coffee break, please do so outside of the lab.

  • Don’t bend, (try to) take apart the setups.

  • Don’t sustain high frequency/high amplitude control inputs for an extended period of time (more than a few seconds).

Abort experiment

The lab hardware is designed to be experimented with. Of course that does not imply that they are unbreakable. When an experiment creates more noise than usual, you observe very fast movement, etc., directly break off the simulation. This can be done by:

  • by pressing Ctrl-C repeadately (when the cursor focus is on the Matlab Command Window or your Simulink diagram);

  • if that does not help, or if the behavior calls for immediate cancellation, press the red button that is on your lab table. This will switch off the power supply to the setup. Re-engage the power by pulling the red button upwards from its yellow base.
